MINISTRIES
Prison Ministry
It has been our privilege to be involved in Prison Ministry both inside prison gates and in transition back to the comunity. Beaches Chapel started the first all-volunteer faith based dormitory at Lawtey Correctional Institition in March 2003. Our efforts were instrumental in Lawtey being named the first faith-based and character building institution in the United States. It was dedicated by Governor Jeb Bush in December 2003.
Beaches Chapel offers programming five days a week at Lawtey, and there are many opportunities for men and women to serve the inmates there. Pastor Steve is also the Chairman of the Community Reentry Alliance (CRA). This is an initiative in conjunction with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to provide assistance for every ex-offender returning to Duval County.
Mentoring is a vital part of our ministry at Lawtey and through the CRA. Anyone can be a mentor. It only requires a willingness to be a friend. If you would like to become involved or receive more information, contact the church at 904.241.4211
