This weekend was a lifetime moment for several people. I saw The Police live in concert, and Jesse and James got married. (Maybe that should be reversed and in order of eternal importance, but hey, I've loved The Police for a looong time.)

I love those moments where you know something huge is happening in your life. God has blessed me to be able to have a lot of them so far. I'm gonna get to have another one in 25 days when our mission trip leaves for Romania in June. I've never been to Eastern Europe, and I am becoming more and more expectant of how God is going to use the time to make us more like Him.

So a few points this blog:
1. Pray for the newlyweds.
2. Pray for the trip to Romania
3. Be thankful for your own lifetime moments, and the ordinary moments too!

So, last week I was thinking about the story where Elijah is hiding in the cave waiting for God to speak. An earthquake, fire, and wind storm come thru and nothing. Then, in the quiet, God speaks.

Not that God couldn't speak thru the earthquake, fire, and wind, but He chose the quiet.

Now the question is what do I need to tune out in order to hear God? Maybe it's the ipod, the lunch room, or fill in your own blank. For me, I need to turn off the tv. (Specifically the Food Network. I just get sucked in to those facinating chefs!)

I did that yesterday. And it began to rain outside. Like, monsoon rain. I opened my windows by my porch and listened. And do you know what God spoke to my heart in the rain? Nothing. No earth shattering, life changing word from the Lord. And that's ok. Because I want to learn how to listen, and I know God uses silence and quiet to teach me that. I know that God can and does still speak to our hearts, and I want to be ready to listen when He does. Even if I do miss Paula Dean.

Well, today is the beginning of blogging for me. I know, I know. I'm slow to this whole technology thing, but better late than...well, you know. So, this here blog will be used for several purposes. Sometimes it will be deep thoughts by James or myself. Other times it will be random funny observations. Important announcements may also be posted here. You just never know. You'll have to keep coming back to see. Comment away, just keep it family friendly please!
